The Vernal Point

When in spring day and night are equally long we find the Sun standing in the Vernal Point of the Ecliptic. Every year the Sun passes this position round about the 21st of march.

This point on the Ecliptic is known as the Vernal Point of the Spring Equinox; it holds for the Earth as a whole.
